2010- Hoping For Many Great Space Missions

2009 was a wonderful year for Space Research. We found and confirmed the presence of water on moon. Though the  great Chandrayan -1 mission ended early its findings were amazing. And a vast lot of data it gave is still under study. And new findings are yet to be out.

For Nasa too it was a great year with the success of their space shuttle missions Endeavour and Discovery and also the LCROSS Mission.

But still there is lot of things Unknown.I hope this year brings out a lot more.

There are many missions planned for 2010 by the space agencies all over world.

Nasa space Missions For 2010

STS-130 – Next scheduled space shuttle mission to theInternational Space Station. Using Shuttle Endeavour. Launch on: February 7 .  6 member Crew.

STS-131- launch March 18 Space shuttle Discovery.

STS-132- Launch on May 14th.Space Shuttle Atlantis.

STS-134-Launch: july 29. Space Shuttle Endeavour.

STS-133-Launch: september 16. Space shuttle Discovery.

Other than this some other special Missions are also their for NASA.

ISRO  has come with theSpace Vision India 2025″ program which will surely bring out the best of space research for the betterment of common man.

Its main Objectives are

  1. Satellite based communication and navigation systems for rural connectivity, security needs and mobile services
  2. Enhanced imaging capability for natural resource management, weather and climate change studies
  3. Space science missions for better understanding of solar system and universe
  4. Planetary exploration
  5. Development of Heavy lift launcher
  6. Reusable Launch Vehicles – Technology demonstrator missions leading to Two Stage To Orbit (TSTO)
  7. Human Space Flight

This is really great as ISRO  give more importance to development of the nation  through better communication systems and also  other programs for the rural developments. The father of Indian Space research Dr. Vikram Sarabhai dreamed for a Mightier India with space research programs aiming the development of nation rather than wasting lots of money for planetary explorations.

Chandrayaan Mission-1 brought a great lot of glory to ISRO last year. I am eagerly waiting for the Mission-2.

Russian Missions

For Russia also there is a great lot of Missions this year.Starting on JAn 28 with the launch of Globus military communications satellite using launcher  Proton . Baikonur will be the Launching Station for majority of Russian missions.

The European Space Agency’s Living Planet Symposium will be held in Bergen, Norway from 28 June to 2 July 2010. The objective of the Living Planet Symposium is to present the results of the ESA EO missions in exploitation. The Symposium will provide an opportunity to present future ESA missions in development and national EO missions.

And another major event this year is the Cospar 2010 .

The biggest interdisciplinary scientific convention on space research, the 38th COSPAR Assembly 2010. The international event is taking place in the Fair and Congress Center Bremen, where representatives from science, government, industry and academia will meet.

Vacuumwalker also have many targets and missions this year.

The major thing is to launch the website fully. Till now its  just a blog. We have many plans and the work is going on. The details about how it will be can’t be released here now as it strictly confidential and important. But i assure you that  you will love it. And its going to be the next big thing.

Also about the authors. The  guest blogging feature will be added soon.  Right now we have  just 2 authors and a guest Author.

Also planning to grow more than just a space blog to Everything about Unknown.

Hoping for a  Great year Ahead For everyone.

I agree that there’s some interesting material here. It’s certainly true that we have only just begun to scratch the surface of space travel and the wealth of knowledge still to be discovered presents a hugely exciting prospect. I can definitely see Russia taking a leading role in space exploration in the near future. The country’s funding for such missions surpasses that of any other and they have an extensive and impressive record in the area. It will be interesting to see how the USA reacts to this or indeed if the two countries will come together to work on the subject. I certainly believe that international cooperation will prove the most productive way forward in our quest for knowledge. It will be interesting to see how events unfold!

Recently, I find it very interesting to discover and learn about space missions. I hope to get updates on these missions.

When is this event going to be held this year? It was such a raving success the last time around, seriously. Although no such space research opportunities culminated from the last event, most of us have more hope for this year. Please organize it again! Thanks.
