Creation of Universe: Different beliefs !

Hello readers, Thanks for the reply for earlier posts, Now we are going to start a new discussion regarding the “Creation of Universe” . Among you there may be several peoples with different views regarding the starting of universe, One thing is sure that universe was created as we are living here, but How was it created?

Some says that It was created as a gradual process by itself, some says it was spontaneously created, and many other views also. But It’s not possible all to be true, anyway there’s a true story! , Here we are discussing all these views, If you have any different views you all are always welcome to write

A great lot of theories have been proposed on the creation or just the beginning of Universe. I too have also thought a lot about it. You also would have had so many thoughts about this.

A creation myth is a is a supernatural story or explanation that describes the beginnings of universe.
How did this vast universe, always expanding, with a great equilibrium come into being. There are many myths on it. And also many beliefs.

Materialistic Views

The theory of materialism holds that the only thing that exists is matter; that all things are composed of material and all phenomena (including consciousness) are the result of material interactions. In other words, matter is the only substance. And they say that universe was created on its own and no one has a control over it.

Materialism can no longer claim to be a scientific philosophy. It was just a 19th century fallacy . But still there are many believers for it. Marxism believes in this and many secularists of Turkey too. This theory has got many believers from  Europe also.

…………………………..

According to the Venerable Bede, the world was created on “18 March 3952 BC.”

Bede also called Saint Bede was Born around the time England was finally completely Christianized. Raised from age of seven in the abbey of Saints Peter and Paul at Wearmouth-Jarrow, and lived there the rest of his life.He was known as the most learned man of his day, and his writings started the idea of dating this era from the incarnation of Christ.

The central theme of his work “Historia ecclesiastica gentis Anglorum” is of the Church using the power of its spiritual, doctrinal, and cultural unity to stamp out violence and barbarism. In 1899, Bede was made a “Doctor of the Church” by Leo XIII.

He was a learned man. But about the date he proposed i dont agree.I dont know how he calculated such an accurate date.

A view from Bible

According to Bible the whole Universe, all galaxies, earth, all the creatures, all other things in this world and heaven was created in six days by the God. And on the seventh day he took rest. In Genesis -1 The whole creation is described. A small excerpt from it.

Genesis1-8

1 First God made heaven & earth 2 The earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep; and the Spirit of God was moving over the face of the waters. 3 And God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. 4 And God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day. 6 And God said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.” 7 And God made the firmament and separated the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament. And it was so. 8 And God called the firmament Heaven. And there was evening and there was morning

This was the first day of creation and the remaining  days are also described there. And on the fifth day

26 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.” 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.28 And God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.” 2

And Adam was the first man on Earth. From him till Abraham 20 generations. And as seen from the Book of Mathew “So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.” . So it says in total 62 generations between Adam and Jesus(Messiah).

We have proof that the life of men were much longer than the present and Noah worked for almost 950 years in his life. So that with such a long lifespan and 62 generations i think the correct date will be much more earlier than that proposed by Saint Bede.
The 40 Century BC is considered by some Christians who adhere to Young Earth Creationism to be the beginning of primeval human civilization.

Big Bang Theory

According to the Bigbang theory our  universe came into existence about 15  billion years ago in a violent  explosion. Quantum effects like quantum fluctuation caused the generation of energy from almost nothing. The energy was spread uniformly and due to uncertainty and other effects the uniformity was broken and  emerged the anisotropies. These anisotropies during inflation period expanded into galactic sizes. While the universe was expanding it was cooling as well. This cooling has caused the formation of different particles. When the energy got sufficiently low, the particles like neutron and protons combined to make  gases. These gases due to anisotropies started to concentrate in some regions of universe giving rise to formation of galaxies and stars. This theory is supported with many experimental evidences and mathematical formulations.

But still there is no answer for what was there before bigbang . And also many other flaws are also there for this theory. The big bang scenario speculates that the marvelously ordered universe randomly resulted from a gigantic explosion. Never in the history of human experience has a chaotic explosion been observed producing an intricate order that operates purposefully.

A view from Quran

Islamic Belief is much similar to the Christian belief but with some differences.
The picture of universe provided by the Big Bang Theory is fairly accurate according to the Islamic view of Creation .

We can find several references in the Quran regarding the creation of the universe, Allah begins by stating that the universe and planet Earth took six “days” to create  (7:.54) ; similar to that seen  in Bible  , but here the “day”(Youm in Arabic) meas a period of time, It may be a thousand years, fifty thousand years or more, anyway he devides the total time of creation into 6 periods in which the creation of planets and the Earth took place in the last two periods of time(41:9).

A Scientific explanation–As a brief all matter in the universe was compacted together in one place. Then GOD gave the command and it blew apart scattering molecules and gases in all directions.

The force of this initial explosion keeps the universe expanding. Then Space was filled with matter, anti-matter and gases which eventually combined into larger particles. These bits of matter eventually grew into asteroids, planets, stars and moons. Each object of inter-stellar space conformed to a set of physical laws which governed the trajectory of their orbits so a regular pattern of rotation could be seen.  Stars ignited in a fury of radioactive fusion and gave off light and heat which brought warmth to those planets near them.  Small moons were captured in the orbit of larger planets and came to have a regular orbit around them, often reflecting light from the sun. Finally, the planets themselves developed and formed in a variety of ways with fantastic geologic formations and movements both above and below the surface. , The planet Earth, in particular, cooled near its outer layers, forming a thin crust made up of plates that moved and grated against each other.

This allowed the Earth’s surface to constantly erase the damage caused by occasional asteroid impacts. But the colliding of the plates also had the side effect of raising tall mountains and exposing the geologic history of the planet. Escaping gases from the ground and water, warmed in the sunlight, eventually raised to a high altitude where they formed a protective layer. This Ozone Layer shielded out harmful radiation and ultraviolet rays from the sun. After a time, life was to appear .

Now a bit about the Hindu belief.

Hindu religion is dedicated to the idea that the cosmos itself undergoes an immense, indeed an infinite number of deaths and rebirths. The time scales are a bit differnet according to hindu belief.

Its cycles run from our ordinary day      and night to a day and night of  Brahma    8.64 billion years long. The  belief is  that  the universe is but the  dream of  the God  who after a 100  Brahma years  or more  dissolves  himself into a  dreamless sleep  and the  universe  dissolves with him  until after  another  Brahma century he  starts  again and  begins again the next  dream  and the  cycle continues.

There may be many such Universe      with many Gods having there own      dreams.

But this is more or less just like a  dream. So it is never the truth . There  is obviously a starting for the  Universe and its never a dream of the  God as it is real.

Moreover Hinduism is a mixture of many beliefs and many gods.

…………………………….

Some Other Local Myths About Creation

There are a lots of other myths about creations .Like Bakuba, Maasai, Mandinka,Voodoo,Mongol,Chinese,Greek and many other civilizations and cultures of different parts of world and different ages have their own views about creation.
So many stories. But truth is always far from all such beleifs.

A belief among the Koreans about the creation of humans is as follows.
According to Korean mythology the God who controlled the weather came down to the ground to spread harmony, peace and prosperity among the people. A tiger and a bear came to see him, asking the god to transform them into humans.

The god gave the animals garlic and mugwort and asked to go to a dark cave. The two must survive on the two plants and never see light for 100 days to become humans. The two tried, and for a while, they succeeded. However, the tiger could not bear the plants and dashed out for the sun and meat. Even though seeing Tiger leave so freely, the bear endured.

At last hundred days passed, and the bear turned into a beautiful woman. The god named her eung-nyeo,(bear-woman) and they married. Together they had a son, who was named Dan-goon. Dan-goon became the first Emperor of Korea, and he built the first nation of that particular peninsula.
This Sounds more like a just a fairy tale.So it is much far from the truth.

………………………….

I have my own view. And i believe that  God – the great architect created this vast  Universe with much planning and utmost care and many great purposes too. He is eternal and and has all the control over everything. Whatever it be the date of creation or the way it was created i believe there is an Almighty God who is above everything.

So as i was searching for these different creations myths i found a  great number of theories and other beliefs. I have listed a few which i found interesting and the major ideas. You readers will be having your own view . I am so interested to know about such ideas of yours.

This post is not ending here, we like to follow it up, but before that we need your response regarding this. feel free to post your ideas as comments here, If you like to write in details as a post please request it also… All ideas and views are welcomed.

    saw the new post.
universe is not a well planned plot of GOD (atleast according to me). it’s rather like a ball set to motion on a billiard table. it will go on and on the way it is and won’t take any predetermined route. Want proof? will collect and give to u

      hey..
u said universe is like a ball set to motion on a billiards table..
but may i ask u who set that ball in to motion??
do u just believe that it just started moving one day on its own.If so, you are a materialist.
      Is it so?

    Hey Bachelor,
Are you believing that there’s no force behind all these? materialism was on the top when the science was poor, but as science are getting more advanced, science finds God too….

    Anyway Please Give your Proofs……

i’m still in quest of that eerie universal truth. i dunno if god created the universe, but one thing i’m certain, that i’m STAR DUST, and so is our material world. we are simply products of 1st generation stars. also, i strongly believe in big bang. but who made it bang, I dunno.
anyway i just started my quest again
thank you nithin, because “you have set the ball rolling!!”

    A. Circular Reasoning

In his article ‘The other side of time’ (2000) scientist Victor J. Stenger has written:
“Quantum electrodynamics is a fifty-year-old theory of the interactions of electrons and photons that has made successful predictions to accuracies as great as twelve significant figures. Fundamental to that theory is the spontaneous appearance of electron-positron (anti-electron) pairs for brief periods of time, literally out of “nothing.””
From here he has concluded that our universe may also come literally out of nothing due to quantum fluctuation in the void, and therefore we need not have to imagine that God has done this job.
But is it true that electron-positron (anti-electron) pairs are appearing literally out of “nothing”? Are scientists absolutely certain that the so-called void is a true void indeed? Because here there is a counter-claim also: God is there, and that God is everywhere. So actually nothing is coming out of “nothing”, only something is coming out of something. Here they will perhaps say: as there is no proof for God’s existence so far, so why should one have to believe that the void here is not a true void? But even if there is no proof for God’s existence, still then it can be shown that scientists’ claim that the universe has literally come out of nothing is a pure case of circular reasoning. If believers say that the void is not a true void at all, and if scientists still then hold that it is nothing but a void, then this is only because they are absolutely certain that God does not exist, and also because they think that God’s non-existence is so well-established a fact that it needs no further proof for substantiation. But if they are absolutely certain that God does not exist, then they are also absolutely certain that God is not the architect, designer, creator of our universe, because it is quite obvious that a non-existent God cannot be the architect, designer, etc. So their starting premise is this: God does not exist, and therefore our universe is definitely not the creation of a God. But if they start from the above premise, then will it be very difficult to reach to the same conclusion?
But their approach here could have been somehow different. They could have said: well, regarding void, it is found that there is some controversy. Therefore we will not assume that it is a void, rather we will prove that it is such. Then they could have proceeded to give an alternate explanation for the origin of the universe, in which there will be neither any quantum fluctuation in the void, nor any hand of God to be seen anywhere. And their success here could have settled the matter for all time to come.
By simply ignoring a rumour one cannot kill it, rather it will remain as it is. But if he takes some more trouble on him and exposes that it is nothing but a rumour, then it will die a natural death with no further chance of revival. Let us say that the saying that there is a God and that He is everywhere is nothing but a rumour persisting for thousands of years among mankind. What scientists have done here is this: they have simply ignored the rumour and thus kept it alive. But it would have been far better for them if they could have killed it, as suggested by me.

    B. “Circular Reasoning” Case Reexamined

There can be basically two types of universe: (1) universe created by God, supposing that there is a God; (2) universe not created by God, supposing that there is no God. Again universe created by God can also be of three types:
(1a) Universe in which God need not have to intervene at all after its creation. This is the best type of universe that can be created by God.
(1b) Universe in which God has actually intervened from time to time, but his intervention is a bare minimum.
(1c) Universe that cannot function at all without God’s very frequent intervention. This is the worst type of universe that can be created by God.
Therefore we see that there can be four distinct types of universes, and our universe may be any one of the above four types: (1a), (1b), (1c), (2). In case of (1a), scientists will be able to give natural explanation for each and every physical event that has happened in the universe after its origin, because after its creation there is no intervention by God at any moment of its functioning. Only giving natural explanation for its coming into existence will be problematic. In case of (1b) also, most of the events will be easily explained away, without imagining that there is any hand of God behind these events. But for those events where God had actually intervened, scientists will never be able to give any natural explanation. Also explaining origin of the universe will be equally problematic. But in case of (1c), most of the events will remain unexplained, as in this case God had to intervene very frequently. This type of universe will be just like the one as envisaged by Newton: “Gravity explains the motions of the planets, but it cannot explain who set the planets in motion. God governs all things and knows all that is or can be done.” So we can with confidence say that our universe is not of this type, otherwise scientists could not have found natural explanation for most of the physical events. In case of type (2) universe, here also there will be natural explanation for each and every physical event, and there will be natural explanation for the origin of the universe also. So from the mere fact that scientists have so far been able to give natural explanation for each and every physical event, it cannot be concluded that our universe is a type (2) universe, because this can be a type (1a) universe as well. The only difference between type (1a) and type (2) universe is this: whereas in case of (1a) no natural explanation will ever be possible for the origin of the universe, it will not be so in case of (2). Therefore until and unless scientists can give a natural explanation for the origin of the universe, they cannot claim that it is a type (2) universe. And so, until and unless scientists can give this explanation, they can neither claim that the so-called void is a true void. So scientists cannot proceed to give a natural explanation for the origin of the universe with an a priori assumption that the void is a real void, because their failure or success in giving this explanation will only determine as to whether this is a real void or not.
